Hi! I'm Mrs. Lawlor, the art teacher at Markham. I've had the privilege of teaching every Middle Schooler in Little Silver for the past 7 years.
I graduated from Rutgers with a major in Art and a minor in Art History with Honors. During college I interned at MTV and AT&T as a graphic Designers. After college I landed a dream job as a catalogue designer at JCrew Corporate in Manhattan. My first Tuesday of work was September 11th. As I watched the towers fall from my building I thought to myself that I will work my entire life and not make a difference. It was that moment that I decided to become a teacher. I attended TCNJ for my Masters in Education with a full scholarship. I began teaching and then took a hiatus to be home with my boys after they were born. In 2010 I started at Markham Place and have been having the best time sharing my passion for art with the students here. |
familyI live in Holmdel with my husband, two boys and dog Cooper. Joe and I have been married since 2004. My boys are very different but they both enjoy reading, building, drawing, gaming, golf, and playing with Cooper.

HobbiesI love to visit museums and learn about all things art and science. I enjoy watching documentaries on anything and often start sentences with "I saw in a documentary..." I'm totally addicted to Pinterest and could happily pin all day searching for art projects, recipes, and decorating tips. I'm a good cook and love to entertain friends and family. I recently discovered a talent for golf which I enjoy with my family.

ArtistAs an artist I'm a designer. I have created banner ads for a fortune 100 company, art on an MTV commercial ical, and numbers JCrew Catalog loue spread and covers. I designed a line of spirit wear including Shirts, pants, hats and bumper stickers. I created tote bags and of course the annual art show poster. I also enjoy watercolor, pottery and all things messy. I love sharing my love of art with students teaching them art techniques, helping them reach goals and express themselves. I was enjoy teaching about art and art history.
