Halloween Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ:
Q: Who can participate?
A: Only 8th graders
Q: How can I be considered?
A: To participate students must work with ONE partner to create a full color drawing of their
plan for the window's design. Please see the examples from 2013 below.
Q: When are the drawings due?
A: Drawings are due September 30th. Late entries will not be considered.
Q: Will I have to make-up classwork? Will I receive extra homework?
A: No, the 8th graders will be working on a group activity that day and classwork and homework will not be assigned.
Q: Can I pick my Location?
A: No, however if your drawing features things relative to a business it will be considered at that business. For example, if your design is a group of ghosts eating ice cream it would be considered for Carvel.
Q: How are the drawings selected?
A: Drawings are reviewed by a team of teachers, without looking at the artists' names.
Q: Can I trace my drawing to submit?
A: NO! You must be able to enlarge your drawing drawing it using soap on a window therefore if your artwork is traced you will be unable to complete this task.
Q: WIll I need to bring supplies?
A: Yes! Many things are provided by the school like paints, brushes, and buckets. However students will have to provide some inexpensive items. Painters selected will be given a list of house hold items to bring to Halloween Window Painting.
Q: How long does it take to paint?
A: Almost the entire school day. We begin with a bagel breakfast provided by the PTO, then go to the art room to gather supplies and paints finally we walk downtown to paint until the afternoon.
Q: How will I get lunch?
A: Students are permitted to buy lunch during their time slot at approved restaurants downtown.
Q: Can parents and family members stop by?
A. Yes! Volunteers are needed, please have a parent or guardian email Mrs. Lawlor if you would like to volunteer. Parents and family members are welcome to stop by and even provide treats to the painters.
